Crunchy, tart, sweet or crisp?
No matter how you like your apples, Caradonna Farms delivers. They are bringing 8-10 varieties of apples to the market his week and no fewer than six types of pears. Fan of grapes? There will be five types to choose from on Saturday, too. Autumn has definitely arrived.
Cold crops like broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts, are also hitting the produce bins.
Many of you have been asking about mushrooms at the market. You’ll be happy to know that Letterbox Farm is now bringing bags of oysters and shiitakes which they sell by the bag (3/4 lb) for $10. They sold out quickly last week so don’t dawdle.
Bien Cuit is also selling mushrooms on behalf of Bulich Mushroom Farm. They bring them in very small quantities so make sure to ask the bread vendor about them.
Here’s a recipe that brings together shiitakes AND broccoli, in honor of the season. If you don’t have ponzu try one of MOMO Dressings as a substitution. The spicy garlic miso works well with mushrooms.
VN TO GO is bringing their belly-warming Pho (beef and chicken), a perfect dinner now that the evenings have taken a slight turn for the chill.
You know it’s officially fall when La Petite Occasion starts bringing her caramel apples to market. If you’ve tasted Michele Kim’s caramels, then you know, these aren’t your typical county fair caramel apples.
Just in time for that October chill in the air, Hillrock Distillery is bringing their gorgeous bottles of golden bourbon Saturday.
And for those of you who are avoiding gluten and dairy, Bohemian Baked is bringing her bagels and treats. New Castle Scone is also here for her once a month visit. Grab some blueberry or chocolate chip scones and some Big Bang coffee beans to make your Sunday morning extra special.
And Spoon Me Soups will be bringing Potato Leek, African Peanut, Butternut Apple, Roasted Red Pepper, Corn Chowder and Thai Carrot Coconut.
