Obercreek is seeing watermelons in the field for the first time in four years and they are so excited to bring them to market. Combine their watermelon and tomatoes to make these tomato and watermelon bites.
Caradonna Farm also has watermelon so a watermelon and feta salad is in order: always so bright and refreshing and colorful at the tail end of summer. Maplebrook Creamery has your feta. Don’t forget the fresh basil or mint as a garnish...whatever you don’t use you can drop into a summer cocktail.
(Psssst...There’s a reason we put Fairy Juice Bar next to Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery. Springbrook’s small-batch vodka tastes great with some of FJB’s fruitier juices like Sun Chime.)
Tea-totaler? Four Wall Farm just released a new Lion’s Mane tea called “the playful lion.” They say it’s fruity and spicy and bright and as always, samples are available at their market tent!
SMOK’D will be here with their flavorful smoked meats which you can eat at the market or take home and enjoy with some super sweet corn from Mead.
And just like that...Mead has started harvesting their first apples of the season. The crates of just-picked Zestar, Sweet Maia, and Sansas seem as pleasingly out-of- place alongside Mead’s summer display of corn, blackberries and no-spray blueberries, as this unexpected bout of fall weather we’ve been having.
Are you looking for the perfect cracker to pair with cheese from Second Mouse? Or just to nosh on instead of bread? Norwegian Baked makes it all possible–with a variety of crunchy “palettes” in so many interesting flavors. Also delicious with smoked Hudson Valley Fisheries trout which you can find at the Letterbox Farm tent.
Kariba Farms comes every other week. which means you probably should save yourself the grief and buy two packs of the beet chips or dried mango out of the gate so you don't go wanting. We love that they let you sample everything before trying.
La Trafila created quite a stir (literally) last week when they were whipping up pasta samples at the market. We hope you got inspired to buy some of their small-batch, hand-made fresh pasta this week. Now grab some tomatoes from Obercreek Farm to create this flavorful sheet pan gnocchi or this grated tomato pasta.
Noble Pies is here to supply dessert for your end-of-summer bash. They can also supply the main course with their ample savory pie options.
What to eat at the market this week? Villa Emilia Empanadas returns with their pillowy, authentic Argentine empanadas filled with everything from spicy beef to dense spinach. Always an excellent ratio of filling to pastry. The Dough Nation Pizza truck is also back as is our favorite house band, Milton.
And if all of this isn’t reason enough to come to the market, please note that the SPCA Mobile Adoption Unit is back this week, only this time they will be featuring cats for adoption. Meeeeoooooow!
See you at the market!
