Dumplings, delphiniums or something distilled for Dad?

This is the weekend to show the dad figure in your life some love. We can certainly help with that!

Our lineup this week seems particularly suited for dads in fact. Cooper’s Daughter Spirits, for instance, specializes in small-batch bourbons. Their black walnut bourbon is finished in black walnut syrup barrels. But wait, they also make two hyperseasonal vodkas:ramp and rhubarb! So if dad is more adventurous than most, give one of those a try.

Copper Faucet Soap Co. has some fantastic shaving kits in addition to hand-crafted soaps. Try their goat milk and cedarwood for dad!

Stars of the Meadow is bringing her dazzling delphinium. Who can resist these willowy blossoms in vibrants pinks and blues. Did you know that the meaning of delphiniums is generally accepted as “big hearted.” Surely there’s a big-hearted person in your life who would appreciate a bouquet this week.

What Dad doesn’t love hot sauce? Gira’s Garden is back with her kicky peach habanero perfect to pour onto brats or dumplings from Asian Farmer (who sells his own spicy chili oil, thank you very much) to grilled swordfish.

Fresh Meadow Farm is entering its busy season. You can expect kale, curly kale, Swiss chard, lots and lots of snow peas, red leaf lettuce, oak leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, cilantro, dill, garlic scapes and, of course, mushrooms.

Since snow peas are plentiful this time of year and Asian Farmer sells his own small-batch noodles, why not make a version of this recipe for stir-fried snow peas with soba, which also features seasonal radish.

Buy some of their dill to make your own gravlax or to make this herbaceous mashed potato salad to serve with some grilled R&M Farm chicken thighs at your next family picnic.

Obercreek Farm will also be ramping it up this week. This will be the last week for spinach until fall (spinach does not like the heat!) but they will be bringing the first of their summer squash and zucchini and, fingers crossed, the first crop of cucumber.

Why not make this recipe for grilled summer squash and red onion with feta which marinates the veggies after grilling instead of before, in a technique called escabèche.

Red Barn Bakery is back this week. We love that they are organic and that they bake with the seasons. For instance, this week, you can expect rhubarb scones...in addition to strawberry rhubarb pies in a painterly, rustic crust.

Please check out the Catch of the Hamptons, a new vendor joining us this week. Same gorgeous fish from the same body of water...just a new name. They have some fantastic local shrimp this week!

Wildcraft Baking Company returns for their monthly visit with a new recipe: Carrot Cinnamon Muesli. Be sure to stop by their tent to try it out!

Goode and Local by Don Rodrigo Farm will be sampling their bacon from Iberian pigs raised in Jersey, and salumeria too! Remember to always include “an acid” on your charcuterie board. Doc Pickle can hook you up with that. By the way, the line at Doc Pickle has been so long of late, it often blocks some of our other fantastic vendors. We are scooching them over a bit so that pickle fans can line up from the parking lot instead of in the middle of the narrow market passage (Thank you shoppers for being mindful of this, generally).

The Taiguey Co. serving refreshing, freshly-brewed iced tea (both herbal and black tea blends he mixes himself) is settling in quite nicely. Try Danny’s teas with some Hudson River Apiaries clover honey.

Leila’s Crepe Truck will be at the entrance of the market on Saturday, just waiting to take your order for generously filled crepes, both savory and sweet.

See you at the market!
