Rose's Top Ten

Let it be known that this list is ever changing due to the plethora of choices continually available at Chappaqua Farmers Market. But here goes for this week!

1,2 and 3:

Fort Hill has beautiful rainbow Swiss chard that I rough chop and lightly sauté in some fruity Kontoulis olive oil. Have you tried the dried beans and lentils from Growing Heart or their blue oyster mushrooms? They pair well with the sautéed Swiss chard for a vegetarian meal after prepping and seasoning with your favorite herbs.

4: For a meat option, choose one of Stone and Thistle’s seasonal specialty sausages, remove it from the casing, crumble and brown then add to the greens or any other market vegetables. These sausage varieties are so well flavored that often you don’t need to add anything else to season the dish.

5 & 6: I never knew I was a gin lover until I sampled Neversink Spirits apple based gin. On the rocks with some good Dr. Pickle green olives...that’s what I treat myself to after working the Saturday market!

7 & 8: You’ve probably already discovered the fruit tarts and quiche from Sister Marie Catherine aka the “French Nun”, but have you tried her sugar cookies? A perfect pairing with those fresh strawberries from Orchards of Concklin and Wright’s Farm.

9 &10 and more:

Plenty of dried fruit, nut and seed choices at Kariba Farms to add to those amazing Black Creek Permaculture or Letterbox Farm salad greens. While you’re at it...throw in some McGrath Cheese.

See...I could go on and on! I’m at the market tent every Saturday so feel free to check in with me for more current favorites or to tell me yours!

See you at the market!
