Something for Everyone

Obercreek Farm is proud to announce that napa cabbage is making its market debut. Huzzah! Joining the cabbage? Various and sundry fabulous root vegetables such as a splendid assortment of radishes, beets, and turnips. Not sure what to do with your napa? Try this Melting Napa Cabbage dish; warm and comforting, it’s just the thing for a cool fall evening. Or, roast some black radish with truffle oil and caramelized onions, make some quick pickled daikon radish, or slice beautiful watermelon radish and local cheese from Second Mouse Cheese for a bright and delicious grazing board. Don’t forget to add sweet bread and butter chips from Doc Pickle and perhaps truffle salami medallions from Goode and Local by Don Rodrigo Farm! Use your home-pickled daikons to top this honey garlic chicken; made in the crockpot, it will fill your kitchen with delicious aromas as it cooks. And R&M Farm has the chicken you'll need. Please don't forget that R&M is also taking pre-orders for your Thanksgiving turkey.

The apple game at Caradonna and Mead Orchards is fierce! New varieties include: Scarlet Blush, Winesaps, Ludacrisp and Arkansas Black. Try this Baked Apple Oatmeal to start your morning right. Make this casserole on Sunday afternoon to enjoy a healthy breakfast all week long. Up the protein value with dollops of White Moustache YogurtFresh Meadow Farm has cute cooking pumpkins. Pick yours for this unexpected Pumpkin and Pesto Crostini. Use whatever loaf of just-baked bread catches your eye at Wave Hill Breads. You truly can't make a wrong choice.

We’re delighted to bring you a new fishmonger this week! Please give a warm Chappaqua welcome to Dobbs Ferry Lobster Guys. Fishing from their boat in the Hampton Bays, Danielle and Tony bring the freshest fish to market each week. Stop by to pick up scallops, cod, skate, and more!

La Petite Occasion will be bringing a supply of seasonal caramel apples. Stop by early, as she may sell out! This week, we have the happy confluence of Bloody Good Mud and Springbrook Hollow Distillery. Pick up a handy jar of Bloody Mary mix (regular or spicy) and a bottle of Three Sisters Vodka. There’s your brunch cocktail sorted! If you can’t be bothered to mix your own, no worries; Liquid Fables will be on hand with their whimsical cocktails based on the fables of your childhood. Another happy market marriage? AYA Hummus and The Cracker Workshop! Visit both and enjoy a healthy snack of Sweet Potato and Pesto hummus on Ginger Rye Crackers. Or course, there are lots of other varieties from which to choose. Pick the ones that make you happy!

Ready, Set, Sharp will be set up, ready to sharpen your knives, scissors, pruning shears, and more while you shop. Dough Nation will fire up their wood oven for market-forward pies and music is by Ursula Hansberry. Come and join your friends at the market; you'll be glad you did as there is something for everyone. See you there!
